Mi tren desde Washington llego a la estacion de Union Station en Chicago a las diez de la manana. Despues de un refrescante y reconfortante cepillado de dientes en uno de los aseos de la estacion, me dirigi al hall principal de la misma donde tome mi desayuno y recupere fuerzas antes de emprender camino a pie hasta mi nuevo alojamiento. Vine a desayunar aqui expresamente porque esta es la famosa estacion donde se rodo la escena final de la pelicula Los Intocables. La estacion es grandiosa, tal y como se ve en la pelicula, aunque desafortunadamente por problemas logisticos con las baterias de mi camara, no pude inmortalizar la escena. Despues de tomarme unos huevos fritos y un par de tostadas con un zumo, cargue mochila a la espalda y me dirigi al hotel Parthenon en el barrio griego, no muy lejos de alli.

       My train from Washington arrived at Union Station in Chicago at ten o'clock in the morning. After a refreshing and comforting teeth brushing at one of the toilets of the station, I headed to the main hall, where I took my breakfast and gather strength before taking footpath to my new home. I came here specifically to have breakfast because this is the famous station where they shot the final scene of the movie The Untouchables. The station is great, as you can see in the movie, but unfortunately due to logistical problems with the battery of my camera, I could not immortalize the scene. After taking two fried eggs and toast with juice, I loaded my  backpack and headed to the Hotel Parthenon in Greektown, not far from there.

      He de reconocer que en un principio cuando seleccione a Chicago como una de las ciudades de mi ruta, no lo hice por ningun interes en especial, si no mas bien por su nombre. No habia puesto demasiadas esperanzas en encontrar algo sorprendente por aqui, aunque no podia estar mas equivocado. Chicago es ALUCINANTE! La cuidad es un verdadero escenario de pelicula, quiza, aunque solo quiza, mas que Nueva York. Nada mas llegar y empezar a pasear todo te parecera familiar, desde las peliculas de gansters y Al Capone como la anteriormente mencionada "Los Intocables", hasta Batman y todas sus secuelas,..., si has visto alguna vez una de estas peliculas te dara la sensacion de ir caminando por Gotham City, de hecho, y despues de un poco de investigacion en Internet, descubri que parte de la ultima secuela de la pelicula, The Dark Knight fue rodada aqui mismo,..., supongo que las anteriores tambien estarian inspiradas en esta ciudad. 

        I must admit that at first when I choosed Chicago as one of the cities on my route, I did not do it by any special interest, if not rather by its famous name. I had not put much hope in finding something surprising around here, but I could not be more wrong. Chicago is AMAZING! The city is a real movie scenary, maybe, but only maybe, even more than New York. Upon arrival and  starting your first walk around the city, everything will seem familiar, from the films of gangsters and Al Capone as the aforementioned "The Untouchables" to Batman and all its sequels ,..., if you've ever watched any of these movies, you will have the sensation of walking through Gotham City, in fact, and after a little research on the internet, I discovered that part of the last sequel of the movie, The Dark Knight was filmed right here and I assume that ,..., previous parts of the movie would also be inspired by this city.

      La arquitectura tan particular de los edificios con halls espectaculares, el color gris y marron que predomina alla donde mires, el metro, que en la zona centro, llamada Loop, circula por el exterior...  Sin lugar a dudas os recomiendo que en una visita a Estados Unidos no os perdais Chicago.

    The very particular architecture of the buildings with spectacular halls, the gray and brown that dominates everywhere you look, the subway, in the center of the city, that is called Loop, runs around the outside ... No doubt, on a visit to the United States do not miss Chicago.
